The Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) has informed the public that the letters A, B, C, S, D, H, K, and T on its issue tickets are intended for purposes other than authentication.

Banknotes bearing any A, B, C, S, D, H, K, and T are legal tender and liberatory in each member state of the West African Monetary Union (UMOA) in Benin, Burkina, Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal, and Togo. According to the Central Bank, under the texts in force, these notes, once authenticated, must be accepted as means of payment in transactions between economic agents, in particular by sellers of goods and services. The BCEAO recalls that the procedures for authenticating, by the general public, the tickets issued by its issue appear on its website under the link “Characteristics of BCEAO tickets
