The Burkinabe Ministry of Economie , Finance and Foresight announced that the African Development Bank (AfDB) signed ten financing agreements of six with Burkina Faso on Monday 27 February 2023 projects with a total budget of 114.27 billion CFA francs (approximately 184 million US dollars).

The financing agreements signed by the AfDB last Monday are in the form of loans and grants and are aimed at development projects in the water and agriculture sectors, according to the ministry. Indeed, a total budget of 30.196 billion CFA francs, (about 48.6 million dollars) is directed towards three projects in the water sector. This funding will allow the Burkinabe government to improve access to sustainable drinking water, hygiene and sanitation services in intervention areas and contribute to achieving universal access to drinking water and sanitation.

Funding of 84.074 billion CFA francs (approximately 135.2 million dollars) is to be granted in the field of agriculture on behalf of three projects that will develop maize, soy, poultry and fish value chains to strengthen food and nutrition security and combat gender inequalities as well as support farmers in order to achieve to reduce the impact of the conflict in Ukraine.
