After the publication of a report by the Court of Auditors alleging irregularities, the Senegalese courts ordered the opening of investigations into alleged cases of “corruption and abuse of office”.

The public prosecutor Amady Diouf announced in a press release that he requested the judicial police units of the Criminal Investigations Division (DIC) to open preliminary investigations.” According to him, the audit report of the Senegalese Court of Auditors, published in mid-December, led to “the presumption of potential violations of the law and the existence of criminal offences, including breaches of public funds and other similar offences such as corruption and abuse of office.”

Following the publication of this report, the Ministry of Justice referred the expenditure incurred in 2020 and 2021 on the “Covid-19 Response Fund” to the Dakar Public Prosecutor's Office.
