In the Saraya department in Kédougou, more than 30 Wave accounts have been emptied in recent days by crooks who now have new, easier methods to get their target.

Scammers have resumed with a new method that is currently wreaking havoc in Senegal. They call people by their first and last names, pretend to be Wave agents, and encourage them to change their secret code to improve their service offering. Thirty people had their Wave accounts emptied after accepting this proposal. According to Dially Bamba Danfakha, journalist at Saraya Khibaaro, more than twenty were victims last Friday alone in Saraya commune. People in Saraya are wondering how these crooks got their contacts and their full identity.
