The Commissioner of the Central Office for the Suppression of Cybercrime (OCRC), Donatien Sokou announced 1351 cybercriminals arrested for 1,404 million FCFA in damages

The organized hunt in Benin has produced 623 people including 39 women. They were arrested for cybercrime in Benin from January 1 to May 31, 2023, according to figures provided by the Commissioner of the Central Office for the Repression of Cybercrime (OCRC),

Donatien Sokou.

The police also seized “57 motorcycles and 34 vehicles” during the same period for damage estimated at more than 741 million FCFA. In 2022, cybercrime caused more than 663 million FCFA in damages to victims. “In 2022, we were able to seize 29 577,303 FCFA. During its operations, the OCRC seized 45 motorcycles and 52 vehicles in 2022,” the head of the OCRC indicated in an element distributed by the Presidency of the Republic as part of Year 2 of the Government Action Programme (

PAG).

In total, 1351 cybercriminals were arrested in Benin between 2022 and 2023 for damage estimated at 1,404 million FCFA.
