As part of a sustained cyber intelligence operation, the Ghanaian police arrested 12 suspects . At least 25 others are being prosecuted for their involvement in cybersecurity crimes.

The Ghana Police announced in a statement on Thursday, March 2, 2023 that “the investigation established that the criminal syndicate's modus operandi consists in impersonating or hacking the social media accounts of celebrities, including Of ministres the State, deputies , heads of government institutions and legal entities”. According to the police, the aim of this trial by the cyber crooks is to defraud victims of money by promising them jobs and scholarships while promoting the publication of false promotional ads and the sale of products, among other things.

Pour ce fait, il est retrouvé 973 fake accounts created by the suspects on behalf of the above mentioned celebrities and legal entities that were deleted and 54 SIM cards seized during the operation. The arrested suspects assist the police in continuing the police investigation and will be brought before the court to answer for their crime.
