Orange is once again serving young people by initiating a new digital ecosystem entirely dedicated to the development of digital skills and innovation. The 14th “Orange Digital Center” (ODC) in Africa and the Middle East was therefore inaugurated last Friday, February 10, by the telephone operator Orange and the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ) in Freetown.

The Orange Digital Center (ODC) in Sierra Leone is established on an area of 500m². Like the previous four strategic programs of the group, it brought together. These are a coding school, a digital manufacturing workshop (FabLab Solidaire) from the Fondation Orange , a start-up accelerator (Orange Fab), and Orange Ventures Africa and the Middle East, which is the telecom group's investment fund, which invests in the most promising start-ups at the Orange Digital Center.

According to the Deputy CEO of Orange Africa and the Middle East, Brelotte Ba, “the launch of our 14th Orange Digital Center today in Freetown, Sierra Leone, is part of a network of 32 Orange Digital Centers that will be deployed not only in Africa and the Middle East, but also in Europe by 2023. The objective is to democratize access to digital technology for young people with or without qualifications. We want them to participate in the digital transformation of their country by encouraging them to become entrepreneurs, create local content and thus develop économie digital technology in Sierra Leone. ”.
