Invention plays a “preponderant” role in the industrial and economic development of Africa in general and Côte d'Ivoire in particular according to the statement of the Director General of the Ivorian Intellectual Property Office (OIPI), Assand& eacute; Koffi Paul on Thursday, March 30, 2023.

The 5th edition of the Salon de l'Invention, Abidjan Innova, is under the theme “invention, the secret of industrial and economic power”. On the occasion Assandé intervened, on behalf of the Minister of Trade, Industry and the Promotion of SMEs, Souleymane Diarrassouba. Indeed, during the ceremony, like the various authorities who intervened, the Director General of the Ivorian Intellectual Property Office (OIPI) insisted on the fact that invention and innovation contribute to economic growth by acting positively on productivity.

According to them, they contribute to the competitiveness of companies and “incidentally” to the development of countries. For him, “it is empirically accepted that the industrial development of a country is linked to its capacity for innovation, that is to say, its ability to develop and explore improved or new industrial processes and products.”
