The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) held a political dialogue on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, on presenting a new vision for Asia-Africa cooperation around natural gas. This conference took place from 8 am to 10 am GMT.

“A new vision for Africa: Asia-Africa cooperation on natural gas” was the theme around which the political dialogue co-organized by the African Natural Resources Management and Investment Centre (ECNR) and the External Representation Office for Asia (PEXT) of the African Development Bank revolved . The vision of the event is to make audiences in Africa and Asia aware of the potential and benefits of natural gas development in Africa. This meeting also created a platform for information sharing and dialogue between the bank, Asian academics, the private sector and policy makers on natural gas development.

Also, there was a question of encouraging investors in infrastructure to enable domestic use of natural gas. In fact, Africa has significantly increased its production and demand on the global natural gas market. As for Asia, it is one of the main importers and consumers of natural gas. Cooperation between Asia and Africa in the natural gas sector can be mutually beneficial and highly complementary.
