The World Bank (WB) increases its funding for the Republic of Congo according to a press release published on Monday, March 13, 2023.

The Bank's funding is estimated at $756 million this year, compared to $575 million in 2022. It will allow the Bretton Woods institution to support the implementation of new projects linked to the National Development Plan (PND) 2026. The areas of human development, social protection, agriculture, digital technology and the environment are concerned, and the World Bank intends to support the economic recovery begun last year.

According to the resident representative of the World Bank in Congo, Korotoumou Ouattara, “the Congolese government can count on the availability and commitment of the Banque mondiale to support its efforts to enable it to achieve its development objectives.” For his part, the World Bank economist, Vincent Tsoungui Belinga, indicated that “the country's gross domestic product (GDP) growth should reach 3.5% more this year than in 2022 (1.5%).” For him, this rebound in growth was driven by the non-oil sector, but also by the renewed investment of the largest oil producers.
