The High Authority for Good Governance (HABG) has revealed codes used to hide corruption in Côte d'Ivoire. It was during a meeting to raise awareness against corruption organized on Saturday, July 8, 2023.

Codes and phrases used to disguise the practice of corruption have been revealed. Yao Koua Emma, section head at HABG, encouraged participants to cite expressions commonly used in various activities to conceal acts of corruption. Several terms were mentioned, such as “I am sitting in the sun”, “Do we will do”, “Your paper will fly away”, “You must put pebble on your file” and “The director will travel”

.

However, Ms. Koua said that similar codes had been recorded at previous meetings in other locations, including Tiassalé. She also informed the audience about the causes of this phenomenon and in particular about the consequences such as the disappointment of investors and the poor quality of works of national interest, such as road maintenance. She invited participants and all those present to report cases of corruption via the HABG's “Signalis” platform
