On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, a municipal committee to combat racketeering and corruption took place in the main courtyard of the Assinie Mafia town hall in the department of Adiaké.

The new committee set up is a team of 23 members led by the Mayor of Assinie-Mafia, Hypolite Ebagnetchi. After his installation, he undertook to ensure that the committee worked well in his commune for the well-being of the population. In reality, these communal committees to combat racketeering and corruption are forums for exchange and consultation within which solutions are proposed to reduce or even eradicate the perverse effects of corruption and racketeering for the happiness of populations, according to the representative of the Minister of the Interior and Security, Jean Fructueux Bako.

According to Hypolite Ebagnetchi, the involvement and participation of populations in fighting racketeering and promoting good governance are challenges that need to be addressed. He therefore invites “the Assinie Mafia municipal committee has made good use of this instrument of good governance in order to make the municipality a haven of peace that would serve as an example for other local authorities”.
