Dans le but de lutter contre unauthorized, unregulated and unreported fishing, the Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy, Mohamed Ould Abidine Ould Mayif, and the Director General of the Fisheries and Fish Farming Authority of the Republic of Liberia signed a partnership agreement.

The Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy of Mauritania announced that the signing of an agreement between his country and Liberia aims to exchange information and experiences with the aim of strengthening cooperation to combat this type of fish illegal act that poses a threat to marine wealth and the marine environment. For him, the West African region is considered a refuge for numerous vessels that engage in this type of prohibited activities in accordance with international laws and the regulations of regional organizations such as the Subregional Committee on Fisheries, the Conference of Fisheries Ministers of African countries bordering the Atlantic Ocean, adding that Mauritania and Liberia seek to change information and learn more about the register of illegal fishing vessels.

Emma Metieh GLASSCO, the Director General of the Fisheries and Fish Farming Authority of the Republic of Liberia, thanks for her part, announced that the memorandum will allow the two countries to exchange information on fishing vessels unauthorized, unregulated, and undeclared.
