More than 17 flagship infrastructure projects were presented at the Dakar 2 Finance Summit, which ended on 3 February 2023 in the Senegalese capital. Indeed, the African Development Bank (AfDB) has financed projects in the energy and transport sectors under the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA).

The African Development Bank is the main funder of this pan-African strategic initiative. Indeed, the two sectors, namely energy and transport, are closely aligned with the “High-5", the bank's operational objectives, namely: “lighting Africa and providing it with energy”, “feeding Africa”, “industrializing Africa”, “integrating Africa” and “improving quality& The quality of life of populations in Africa.” Thus, energy and electricity make it possible to achieve the objectives set within the framework of the African Union's Agenda 2063 and the African Continental Free Trade Agreement. This agreement came into effect on ^January 1, 2021.
