The signing ceremony of the financing agreement for the implementation of the Digital Economy Acceleration Project (Paen) was held on 6 April at the premises of the Senegalese Ministry of Finance and Budget. Following this signature, the World Bank granted the State of Senegal funding of 91 billion CFA francs (150 million US dollars).

The Digital Economy Acceleration Project (Paen) aims to expand access to affordable, climate-resilient broadband connectivity and improve the adoption of online government services and health records electronic, according to the minister in charge of finance and budget, Mamadou Moustapha Ba. This project includes four components. This includes the improvement of a legal, regulatory and institutional environment favourable to the digital and climate-friendly economy; the development of resilient broadband infrastructure with a focus on the national fiber optic backbone and last-mile connectivity in the Casamance and Groundnut Basin areas.

So there is support for the digital transformation of the public sector by strengthening the technical bases and e-government services and digital adoption by improving literacy and digital skills, especially among women and young people; and finally increasing access to health information for am improving the delivery of health services.
