The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) announced on Wednesday, May 10, that it had made a financial contribution of $43 million to Burkina Faso to strengthen its electricity grid.

The Burkinabe authorities have the ambition to extend the country's electricity grid. This led them to set up several initiatives with international partners. The bank's support will improve the living conditions of populations in the targeted areas by providing reliable and affordable electricity through the extension and strengthening of electrical distribution and connection networks. It will allow the construction of 113 km of medium voltage (MT) lines and 971 km of low voltage (BT) lines with 132 MT/BT substations

This funding comes in a context where the West African country is facing problems of expanding electrification. To solve them, Ouagadougou has implemented several initiatives with international partners
