The Council of Ministers on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 examined, at first reading, a draft decree setting the conditions for accessing and exercising the profession of road driver in Togo.

The government wants to formalize and regulate the practice of driving. A measure that not only aims to improve the performance of the sector and generate positive benefits for the national economy, but which should also significantly reduce the number of traffic accidents observed in recent years in the country. It is a draft regulatory framework that meets the ambitions of the government, which wants to make the country a sub-regional hub for transport and logistics services.

According to a statement issued by the Council of Ministers, “in this spirit, it is essential to professionalize this sector in line with the recent adoption of the Transport Policy Act.”
