Several local media report that the Ghanaian government plans to capture more than $1.5 billion from its tourism sector by 2027.

In Ghana, the tourism sector plays an important role in economic growth and job creation. In fact, the government is committed to increasing its actions in the field to boost its performance, planning to capture more than 1.5 billion USD from its tourism sector by 2027. An estimate resulting from the first launch of the survey on domestic and foreign tourism, which aims to provide data to the Tourism Satellite Account (CST) that will serve as a basis for calculating the relevance of the sector for the national economy. This survey is funded by “Harmonizing and Improving Statistics in West Africa”, over a period of three years. For Statistica, tourism remains one of the largest contributors to Ghana's GDP, with more than 3 billion USD in 2021
