In collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Insurance Directorate organized a seminar on microinsurance in Lomé from 6 to 7 March last.

Under the theme “Inclusive insurance: issues, challenges and perspectives in Togo”, the two-day seminar offered the opportunity for insurance ecosystem partners to better understand the concept of micro insurance, issues for financial inclusion, challenges for economic growth and prospects for the economic development of Togo. Indeed, participants received communications on better insurance inclusion from seasoned and experienced stakeholders.

Key players also discussed the production of microinsurance accounting statements and the role of technical service providers. According to the Minister of Finance, National Insurance Director Assignon Koffi, the Togolese government has put in place various instruments, including microinsurance products backed by microcredits through the actions of the National Inclusive Finance Fund.
