The Global Center for Adaptation (GCA) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) organized a regional forum on the future of resilient food systems in Africa. This event strengthened the capacity of East African stakeholders to design and implement solutions to improve food security and climate resilience.

The three-day regional forum on the future of resilient food systems had the theme “The Future of Resilient Food Systems in Africa - AAAP Digital Solutions for Climate Change.” Through trainings, the meeting strengthened the capacity of East African stakeholders to design and implement solutions to improve food security and climate resilience as well as to facilitate knowledge sharing among farmers on methods to intensify the use of climate-sensitive digital advisory services.

“Africa needs urgent support to scale up the implementation of adaptation solutions that are already showing good results for irrigation, drought-resistant seed development, crop and livestock diversification,” said Patrick Verkooijen, CEO of the Global Center for Adaptation, during the opening ceremony of the forum. The forum brought together stakeholders from ministries of agriculture, related government agencies, public research institutions, farmers' organizations, universities, and non-profit organizations working on climate change adaptation to ensure food security in East Africa.
