Benin occupies the first place in the ranking of countries of The Union West African economic and monetary policy (UEMOA) in terms of transparency budgetary. The information was announced on Wednesday September 17, 2025, by Gérard Sokégbé, Director of Performance Analysis and Synthesis at the Ministry of Finance.

Budget transparency consists in giving full available, in a timely and systematic manner, the information budgets, ensuring their clarity, reliability, frequency, timeliness and relevance. Indeed, according to figures from OBS scores (Observer) permanent with UEMOA), the country obtained the highest average among the eight countries of the West African subregion sharing the CFA in common. The Benin comes out on top, ahead of Côte d'Ivoire, which recorded scores of 48% in 2021 and 56% in 2023. Senegal comes in third position with the scores by 40% in 2021 and 42% in 2023.
