On Thursday, November 09, 2022, the opening ceremony of the 17th Plenary of the Technical Commission of the said group took place. This ceremony lasted four (4) days and focused on the Working Group on Assessments and Compliance (GEC) in the presence of the Permanent Secretary of GABAC, Mr. Gervais Mbata.

The 17th session of the Technical Commission of the Action Group against Money Laundering in Central Africa (GABAC) aims to allow each State to scrutinize the Mutual Evaluation Reports in order to identify the relevant recommendations and to refer them to the various States for combating money laundering and terrorist financing at the level of member states.

According to the Minister of Finance and Budget, Hervé Ndoba, this plenary addressed issues relating to the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism. It took place at a time when the regional and international situation was marked by the resurgence of organized crime, terrorism and security threats of all kinds.
