The star of the Beninese singer Angélique Kidjo will be inaugurated on the mythical street of Hollywood, in Los Angeles, a first for a singer from the continent. The only Africans to have won their star are to be found outside of musical disciplines: the South African actress Charlize Theron , the Mexican-Kenyane-American actress and director Lupita Nyong'o and the late British-South African actor Basil Rathbone. This last distinction had previously gone to SenegalaisYoussou Ndour style="font-family: "Bookman Old Style”, serif"> and to the South African Miriam Makeba who had also called Kidjo the “queen of African music”.
