A press release issued by Mitsui Chemicals indicates that the Nigerian group Dangote Industries signed a memorandum of understanding on 20 August with the Japanese Mitsui Chemicals for joint petrochemical production in Nigeria.

According to Mitsui Chemicals, this partnership will focus on technology transfer for the production of resins and fertilizers, drawing on Mitsui's global expertise. This collaboration aims to boost regional industry and improve living standards in African countries

The agreement was signed at the Tokyo International Conference on African Development in Yokohama, with AAIC Holdings acting as a facilitator to encourage wider Japanese investment in the African petrochemical sector.

This is a strategic move by Dangote to deepen its presence in the petrochemical industry and expand its footprint across West Africa.
