Suspicions have turned to the head of major accounts, institutions and state projects at the Agricultural Bank, Birima Diouf, who fled on Thursday, August 11, after receiving a summons from investigators.
Following the loss of a reasonable amount of 300 million CFA francs, Malick Ndiaye, the general manager of the Agricultural Bank (ex-Caisse nationale de crédit agricole, CNCAS) filed a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) to report the embezzlement in the establishment he directs. The complaint was against Birima Diouf suspected of being responsible for this embezzlement.
According to local media, Malick Ndiaye discovered the loss during an internal audit and alerted the Board of Directors and then the DIC. Thus, the person in charge of major accounts for institutions and state projects at the Agricultural Bank was summoned for a hearing by investigators on Thursday, August 11. However, he could not be found on the eve of the hearing.
