On October 7, 2022, the executive committee of the Economic and Statistical Observatory of Sub-Saharan Africa (Afristat) held its 47th meeting in the Congolese capital.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Afristat has held its second meeting last Friday. Advocacy is initiated by the directors-general of national statistical institutions and their partners for the financing and monitoring of development programs.

To hear the Director General of Togo's National Institute for Statistics and Economic and Demographic Studies (Inseed), the meeting aims to revitalize Afristat for enable it to play its full role. Its vision is to curb the scarcity of financial resources, which consists in using ingenuity to seek alternative and/or complementary funding for statistics.
