On Friday, November 11, 2022, at the Sarakawa Hotel in Lomé, the 7th ministerial meeting took place after the one on September 10, 2021 in Abidjan. This meeting is intended to objectively assess the security situation in the Union. The aim was also to take stock of the implementation of the recommendations, with a view to providing the guidelines and impetus necessary for the success of their implementation.

Insecurity is currently at a very high level of concern in Africa, particularly in the WAEMU region. Attacks and threats of terrorist acts are becoming more recurrent, more complex and more rampant.

The security ministers of the Member States of the Union met on Friday in Lomé to discuss the level of implementation of the recommendations resulting from the last meeting on the security issue. They have completed new guidelines capable of countering evil whose economic, social and humanitarian consequences are well established.
