On Thursday, January 29, 2026, the Ghanaian government and the African Development Bank (AfDB) signed a grant agreement of 12.83 million dollars (about 7 billion FCFA). They plan to finance feasibility studies to accelerate infrastructure projects with a high economic and social impact.

7 billion FCFA; this financing aims to improve the technical, environmental and financial preparation of several priority operations in order to allow them to start quickly. Les projects concerned include the construction of a road interchange near the military hospital no. 37 in Accra, identified as a hotspot urban traffic; the renovation and modernization of markets major Agbogbloshie, Techiman, Sekondi and Mankessim as well as for creation Special Agro-Industrial Zones (ZAS) in the Afram Plains, in Nsawam and in Builsa. These interventions target the restructuring of infrastructures. commercial activities and the promotion of agro-processing in order to limit post-harvest losses and to support rural employment.

Studies should specify solutions of engineering, estimate costs and measure the expected benefits in terms of improving traffic flow and reducing transport costs for users and businesses.

Studies funded by the ADB will cover all the components required to make these bankable projects: detailed engineering plans, financial estimates, business case studies and compliant environmental and social assessments to international standards.
