Le ministère des Communications, de l' Innovation et de l' Économie numérique launched the National Broadband Alliance for Nigeria (NBAN), a collaborative initiative involving multiple stakeholders. This launch was made in order to meet the challenges faced by the fiber optic network infrastructure.

The National Broadband Alliance for Nigeria aims to achieve short, medium, and long-term goals by partnering with international organizations to execute its plans progressively. The Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy aims to position Nigeria as a leading force in the digital landscape and to promote digital inclusion across the country by creating the NBAN. Although there was a slight decrease from the previously recorded peak of 48%, the country saw an increase in Internet user penetration from 38.73% in 2022 to 40.72% in 2023 according to statistics.
