At a workshop held on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 in Lome, Togo, the ECOWAS Commission launched the Regional Off-Grid Electricity Access Project (ROGEAP).

The ECOWAS Commission informs that the main objective of the workshop was to present the new ROGEAP structure to stakeholders and to sensitize them on the implementation of the project.secondly, to implement the policy framework for the development of solar technologies and the market for off-grid photovoltaic systems in Togo.

The workshop was solemnly opened by the Director of Cabinet of the Minister of State in charge of Energy and Mines at the Presidency of the Republic in the presence of the ECOWAS Resident Representative in Togo. Thus, the exchanges were conducted around the state of off-grid solar systems; the institutional and regulatory framework of the off-grid solar systems sector in Togo; the activitiess planned within the framework of ROGEAP; the involvement of private companies in the electrification of public buildings and infrastructures; and the identification of technical assistance needs of key actors in Togo.
