Cotton made in Africa (CmiA) announces that its certification is gaining momentum in Africa. In the 2020/21 campaign, 600 million CmiA textiles were put on the market, more than doubling the volume manufactured in Africa compared to the previous campaign, CMiA announced.

The number of retailers and licensed brands has increased by about 30% over the past four years. By 2021, the network of registered partners has expanded to include 240 mills worldwide. The three largest buyers of CmiA cotton are the Lidl Group, the Otto Group and the Ernsting family. On the production side, with 690,000 tons of CMiA cotton produced in 2020/21, this is 10% more than last year and represents about 40% of African cotton production.
