Cocoa consumption in the European Union (EU) is 70% supplied by Côte d'Ivoire. This figure was revealed by Stéphane Brossard, Head of the Inclusive and Sustainable Growth Team at the EU Delegation in Abidjan.

Ivorian cocoa is in a very good position on the European market. "Today, 70% of the consumption of the European Union is cocoa from Côte d'Ivoire," said Stéphane Brossard on Friday, on the sidelines of a plea by the Ivorian Civil Society Convention ( CSCI) on the Intermediate Economic Partnership Agreement (IPEA). According to him, cocoa from the Ivory Coast is cheaper compared to that of Ecuador or Indonesia. Stéphane Brossard ensures that the EU will support the government in exploiting the opportunities of the Intermediate EPA.
