Electrique de France (EDF) has announced the construction of a hydroelectric dam in Kikot on the Sanaga River whose installed capacity should be between 450 and 550 MW. The same exercise is already being carried out in Nachtigal on the same Sagana River for a generation capacity of 420 megawatts (MW). To carry out the program, the French multinational intends to mobilize 650 billion CFA francs ($1 billion) from bilateral and multilateral partners, including the World Bank (WB), which is an “integral part” of the project. The Cameroonian authorities expressing their willingness to work with international financial institutions.
