It was on February 22 that the Beninese Minister of Economy and Finance, Romuald Wadagni signed a financing agreement of 72 million euros (77.9 million dollars) with Joris Jurriens, the ambassador of the Kingdom of Countries- Stockings. This agreement is part of the objective of developing a new fishing port in Benin

Le partenariat intervenu entre le ministre de l' Economy and Finances and Joris Jurriens focuses on the development of a new fishing port based in Xwlacodji. The project will be mainly financé by the Dutch fund Invest International. According to the Director General of the é Autonomous Port é of Cotonou, “the port will be established é on a site of 8 hectares. é It will be dedicated é to activities ê Artisanal and semi-industrial é fishing ”. This project aims to develop an area for marketing and processing fishery products. It should also contribute to boosting the commercial activities of all actors involved in small-scale and semi-industrial fishing (fishermen and fish traders). Construction work is planned for a period of 18 months so that the new port can be delivered in December 2025.
