sustainability (RSF), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) authorized a
immediate disbursement of 65.88 million Special Drawing Rights (SDR),
or 91 million USD, in favor of Mauritania.
The Board of Directors of the Monetary Fund
international (IMF) has given the green light to a new disbursement in favor of
Mauritania, following several reviews of programs supported by
the institution. According to a statement issued in Washington, this decision opens the
Pathway to an immediate disbursement of 65.88 million special drawing rights
(SDR), approximately 91 million US dollars, corresponding to nearly
84 million euros.
This financing is part of the joint facility agreement.
extended credit facility (FEC) and extended financing facility (FEF), of a
duration of 42 months, approved in January 2023, as well as the facility
for resilience and sustainability (FRD), validated in December 2023.
The disbursement consists of 6.44 million SDR under the FEC and the
FEF, and 59.44 million SDR under FRD. In total, the amounts
Cumulative payments made to Mauritania since the launch of these programs reach
now 191.8 million SDR, or about $258 million,
equivalent to nearly 237 million euros.
The IMF highlights the progress made in fiscal management.
The adoption and institutionalization of a fiscal anchor constitute,
according to him, a central element of the authorities' strategy, allowing
stabilizing the trajectory of public debt. At the same time, a
reduction in the current account deficit is expected in 2025, while the
international reserves remain at levels considered adequate.
