The Government of Karnataka issued an ordinance on September 8 that aims to deploy a package of insurance coverages of Rs 4 lakh. It is a life insurance of Rs 2 lakh and an accident insurance of Rs 2 lakh.

The insurance coverage package of Rs 4 lakh deployed by the Government of Karnataka will cover full-time and part-time workers at Swiggy, Zomato, and e-commerce companies such as Amazon, Flipkart, BigBasket among others. The issued ordinance states that “the Karnataka State Workers' Insurance Scheme shall be implemented with immediate effect through the Karnataka State Unorganized Workers Social Security Council”.
