With the intention of revitalizing the Togolese Banking Union (UTB) and the former public bank, the Togolese Bank for Commerce and Industry (BTCI), renamed IB Bank this year 2024, the State of Togo is planning a major securitization of the headquarters of these banks.

The Togolese State plans, during this year 2024, to launch a major securitization operation targeting the real estate of two major banks in the country. These are UTB and IB Bank. According to the information, the operation envisaged by the State consists in buying the headquarters and various buildings of these banking institutions. These real estate assets will then be converted into financial securities. These can be acquired by investors, perhaps other local banks; that is an option.
