On Wednesday, October 12, 2022, a meeting between the President of the World Bank and the Togolese Head of State took place in Washington. Discussions had begun on the new partnership framework with Togo.

Togo's development priorities such as economic diversification, social transfers, improvement of the business environment and business opportunities arising from digitization were at the center of discussions between Faure Gnassingbé and David Malpass. Indeed, for the head of the World Bank, it is of great importance to strengthen the agricultural sector and make it more resistant to climate change. Thus, Malpass highlighted the WB's solid support to the population through IDA projects and new commitments and then budget support.

Similarly, the phosphate sector and investment opportunities for the private sector were addressed. Rising insecurity and the challenge of fragility& In the Sahel region, discussions were also initiated and how to strengthen regional cooperation and better coordinate international assistance to address the factors of conflict, including the influx of arms into the region, were also among questions from the two partners.
