Le mercredi 6 décembre dernier, la Banque centrale des Etats de l' Afrique de l' Ouest (BCEAO) a indiqué avoir décidé de relever de its key rate of 0.25 points.

The BCEAO wants to anticipate and contain the impact of economic risks. According to the governor of the bank Jean-Claude Kassi Brou, this is the aim of the decision to raise its key rate by 0.25 points. According to the latter, “the main key rate, at which the BCEAO will lend its resources to banks, will rise from 3.25 to 3.50%.” The increase in the key rate and the maintenance of the minimum reserve coefficient at its current level also take account of “the tensions on the Union's external accounts”, the eight members of the BCEAO
