The Court of Repression of Economic Offenses and Terrorism (CRIET) sentenced the owner of the currency exchange to a one-year suspended prison sentence and a fine of 50 million FCFA.

For his involvement in the case of the two Beninese arrested at Brazzaville airport (Congo) with 1.5 million euros (nearly one billion CFA francs), the head of the exchange office has been incarcerated for several weeks in Benin. After deliberation this Thursday, he will serve a one-year suspended prison sentence and pay a fine of 50 million CFA francs for having provided euro notes to Beninese nationals arrested at Maya-Maya airport. It should be noted that the two main culprits who fled are still being prosecuted.
