In a note published last week, the Directorate of Agricultural Statistics and the Directorate of Planning, Administration and Finance announces agricultural forecasts on P& acute; period 2022-2025.

By 2025, food production could increase by more than 24.4% compared to 2021, or 13,789,586 tons in 2025. As for rice production, it could reach 894,685 tons, an increase of 72.2% compared to the 2021 level. While cereal production could increase by 33.6% compared to 2021, maize, cassava and soybean productions are expected to reach 2,000,000 tons, 5,000,000 tons, and 500,000 tons respectively in 2025.

Furthermore, legume production is expected to increase by 48.7%. Tomatoes, chili peppers and onions could reach a production of 357,019 tons, 202,387 tons and 139,737 tons respectively in 2025. Finally, industrial crops, cotton, pineapple and cashew nuts could reach a production of 1,036,335 tonnes, 511,476 tonnes and 204,433 respectively in response to support actions.
