The problem of underemployment in Benin seems to be finding solutions. The integrated regional survey on employment and the informal sector and national accounts made public by INSAE revealed that in Benin, over the past four years, more than eight hundred thousand jobs have been created.

The evaluation period of the Integrated Regional Survey on Employment and the Informal Sector and national accounts published by the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Analysis (INSAE) is from April 2016 to June 2020. Indeed, according to the indications of the scientific approach, eight-hundred-seven thousand eight hundred and twenty-seven (807,427) new jobs have been created.

Details indicate that 210,584 formal and 596,844 informal jobs, of which 38.9% were in agriculture and 19.3% in trade were created by the government. These new jobs vary from one sector to another according to Laurent Hounsa, Director General of INSAE. The recruitments made by the government concern, he says, the sectors of infrastructure, education.

Moreover, over the past four years, the agricultural sector has contributed enough to the creation of massive jobs. It is noted that several young people from high schools and agricultural centers have been recruited. The various projects initiated by the government have also contributed to the achievement of these figures, says the survey.
