On the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank (AfDB), the BGFIBank Group was named the best bank in Central Africa at the 2020 edition of the African Banker Trophies, which took place on August 26 by videoconference, taking into account the current health situation.
This distinction is not the first of its kind for the BGFIBank Group. It is for the 3rd consecutive year, in fact, that the Gabonese bank has been named the best bank in Central Africa.
It is the result of the vision and leadership of one man, Henri-Claude Oyima, Chairman and CEO of the BGFIBank Group for many years. He was able to instil in this bank, the requirement of a quality of service which, today, has raised BGFIBank to the firmament of banks in Central Africa.
This award is all the more a matter of pride, given the reputation of BGFI's competitors for this prestigious distinction. Among the candidates are the most important banks and financial institutions of the continent, selected by an independent jury, composed of eminent experts, bankers and financiers.
And for the 5th time, the BGFIBank Group wins a trophy at this event which pays tribute to excellence in banking and financial services on the African continent. For this 14th edition of the African Banker Trophies, according to the organizing committee, the prize is awarded to the Gabonese bank for having excelled in the banking sector of its region by reaching new customers, offering new services, integrating people unbanked in the banking space, using new technologies and contributing to a stronger financial sector.
Like other economic players, the BGFIBank Group is facing an unprecedented health and economic crisis linked to the Covid-19 pandemic.
