As part of the “Dubai Papers”, two business leaders were sentenced on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 by the Paris Criminal Court to suspended prison sentences. Also, they received several hundred thousand euros in fines for laundering tax evasion.

Yves Mouriès, former CEO of the fashion brand Aigle, admitted hiding 6.8 million euros from the tax authorities, or 3.2 MEUR of taxes evaded including penalties, which have already been the subject of a tax adjustment greater than €3 million. He was sentenced to 15 months of suspended prison and a fine of 300,000 euros for “laundering tax fraud” and “laundering of aggravated tax evasion” between 2009 and 2012.

For his part, Jean-Louis Chagnaud, another business executive, was sentenced to ten months of suspended imprisonment and 200,000 euros in fine for concealing from the tax authorities a family donation of a worth nearly three million euros, who had also used the Helin circuit. He reported to the tax authority and was the subject of a tax adjustment in November 2019 worth 1.9 million euros.
