On March 25, 2026, Burkina Faso launched the mobilization of 70 billion FCFA on the regional financial market through the issuance of Treasury Bills and Fungible Bonds.

Burkina aims to cover the financing needs of the State budget. At the close of the operation, the country mobilized 76.999 billion FCFA. Over 62 billion FCFA in submissions were rejected, representing a coverage rate of 110% of the amount put up for tender.

The public securities issuance program will continue, aiming to help cover financing needs with the mobilization of 1.185 billion FCFA. This information was provided by the Minister of Economy, Dr. Nacanabo, in his letter of intent, and the memorandum of economic and financial policies and the technical memorandum of understanding. These documents were published by the IMF on March 23, 2026, as part of the fourth review of the agreement under the Extended Credit Facility, the review of financing assurances, and the request for an agreement under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility.
