Two cyber crooks have been apprehended and arrested by Burkina Faso's Central Cybercrime Brigade (BCLCC).

The network of scams via electronic means of communication, particularly identity theft, counterfeiting and money laundering, has been dismantled thanks to the collaboration of the victims.

At the end of the operation, the Central Brigade for the Fight against Cybercrime got its hands on 6 mobile phones, 19 lots of counterfeit banknotes and 1 lot of forty SIM cards composed of ORANGE, TELECEL, Moov Africa and MTN Benin SIM cards in addition to a sum of 1,250,000 CFA francs.

The age of the two individuals who are members of the network of cyber crooks varies between 40 and 43 years old. As a modus operandi, these outlaws posed as buyers of moringa sap, aloe vera and organic spices. Several scenarios are ingeniously set up to get victims to make money transfers for various fees. The current damage caused by this group of cyber crooks amounts to more than eighteen million CFA francs.
