Jean-Claude Kassi-Brou, outgoing President of the Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) handed over service on July 13, 2022, to Dr. Omar Alieu Touray.

After four years at the helm of a commission composed of fifteen men, Jean-Claude Kassi Brou leaves the chair to Dr. Omar Alieu Touray. Thus, the outgoing president will hand over to his successor, the Gambian Omar Alieu Touray, on 13 July 2022 at the headquarters of the ECOWAS Commission in Abuja, Nigeria. He will lead a new Commission that will be composed of seven men. On the same day, other officials of the ECOWAS institutions will take up their duties for a period of four years. Recall that, the new statutory incumbents received their appointments during the 61st ordinary session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS, which ended on 3 July last in Accra.
