Stakeholders in the cotton value chain met on May 24 and 25, 2022 in Yamoussoukro to identify the factors linked to the poor performance of the 2021-2022 season and to plan for the smooth running of activities in the 2022-2023 season. Thus, climate change was identified as the main factor acting negatively on cotton production.

During these two days, the actors of the sector, producers, supervisors, ginners, processors (70 participants), will identify the main causes of the poor agronomic performance of the sector, in order to develop a matrix of appropriate solutions to be implemented for a more efficient and competitive cotton sector. Thus, several factors that have undermined the good production or quality of cotton were identified during this workshop. In particular, the actions of climate change, which have strongly impacted the normal cycle of good production. On this occasion, the producers emphasized the drought, the abundance of rain at the time of the harvest leading to a rot of the bolls, the seed and the humidification of the cotton on the cotton plant.
