This year's mango production in Senegal is affected by climate change. According to a statement by Amadou Ndiaye Seck, managing director of Ans Inter-Export at Fresh Plaza, it has fallen, leading to a 30% drop in exports.

“Due to weather phenomena, we experienced late fruit blooming. This delay exceeded 30 days, resulting in a loss of our market share. Senegal's mango exports have risen from 24,000 tons in 2021 to 16,000 tons this season.” According to Amadou Ndiaye Seck, this is what we can learn from the result of mango production in 2022. Indeed, it is noted that mango exports reached a record level of 19,000 tons in 2021.

In reality, horticulture is one of the main engines in the agricultural sector alongside the peanut industry in Senegal. The mango segment plays an important socio-economic role in this sector. Thus, the mango sector achieved an export feat in 2021. Fruit shipments reached 19,000 tonnes at the end of last year, according to data reported by Fruitrop, the CIRAD magazine dedicated to horticultural products. This level is up compared to 13,000 tons shipped a year earlier and is higher than the average of the last 5 years of around 17,000 tons.
