The end of the state subsidy to butane gas continues to make waves and arouse strong criticism from the public and the political class. Faced with this situation, the DMK (Dynamique Mgr Kpodzro) proposes a possible solution.

According to the DMK, the increase in the prices of liquefied petroleum gas, butane or propane, depending on the company, will inevitably lead to the massive use of coal from wood with the consequence of reducing plant cover and as a corollary: global warming and the negative impact on reforestation in Togo.

Thus, in its press release, the DMK requires governments to reinstate the subsidy on gas product tariffs. Indeed, these funds will be more useful to Togolese men and women in reducing gas prices than in organizing inappropriate regional elections and setting up a budgetary Senate. These subsidies are also a necessary and mandatory condition to limit the long-term effects of the excessive use of firewood and charcoal. The DMK requires a return to the original gas price, which was already well above the prices in the subregion.
